The truly amazing Barrier Reef is a mosaic of 2, 900 person reefs from the shore of Queensland in northeast Australia. The sprawling reef can be seen from space and it is not just the whole world's largest coral reef system and the biggest construction on Earth produced by living organisms.

The fantastic Barrier Reef stretches over 1, 600 miles (2, 575 kilometers) — a little more compared to length from Boston to Miami. It covers a place of 133, 000 square kilometers (344, 400 square kilometer), reaching through the Torres Strait at it northernmost point to Fraser Island inside south. The reef includes woman Elliot Island and the smaller Murray islands.
